Trip Overview
Ghorepani Trek is identified as being short and easy with fine panoramic views where anyone can do easily this trek. It commences from Nayapul Birethanti, walking beside an attractive river. On the second day we arrive at Ghorepani (2750m), located in the heart of the region. Poon Hill at the height of 3210m has a great view point of the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri ranges, along with many more, such as the awe inspiring holy mountain of Machhapuchhre. There are more than 20 mountain peaks between 6000 and 8167 m situated in front of this hill. It is a relatively short and easy climb and it will give you an opportunity to view these spectacular mountains above 8000m, including Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Manaslu (8163m) and Annapurna (I) (8091 m). There are others at less than 8000m including Annapurna South (7219 m), Machhapuchhre (fishtail) (6993 m), Gangapurna (7455m), Lamjung Himal (6830m), Barasikhar (6635m), Nilgiri (6670m), Tukuche Peak (7650m), Hiunchuli (6441 m) and many other peaks slowly begin to appear, like magic, before our eyes. Ghorepani trek can start from Dhampus Phedi, going in the opposite direction and it can also start from the natural hot springs at Beni. It is possible to customize short and long trekking itineraries to customer’s demands, so it will be easy to arrange. For those who only have a short holiday, you can go via Nayapul and return via the same route and for those who have a longer holiday, you can trek the Ghorepani circuit, taking in Poon Hill and continue to trek to the Gurung village of Ghandruk. The trek ends in Dhampus Phedi and we will then drive to Pokhara and drive or fly back to Kathmandu. Additional Information
Accommodation
We will be staying at Hotel Moonlight in Kathmandu or similar and Tea-house during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional. We will have rooms with attached washrooms in most parts of the trek but this is not possible in a few remote locations. Also understand that single rooms are not easily available in higher elevations like they are in Kathmandu and the lower elevation regions.
Meals
All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu. There will also be welcome and farewell dinners for guests. The most common cuisines in most menus will be Nepalese, Tibetan, Indian and the more common continental.
Physical Condition & Experience Requirements
Pikey Peak Trek is a Eaasy,moderate trek suitable for trekkers who can walk at least 5-6 hours a day with a light backpack. No technical skill is required. Anyone who is physically fit with good health can participate in this trek. However, it is always best to start jogging and exercising regularly at least a month before the actual trek. Also, trekkers who have had experiences with high altitude trekking will find this trek relatively easier than others.
Best Time to Travel/Trek
Autumn (Sept. to Nov.) and spring (March to May) are the best seasons for this trek. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views. If you wish to avoid crowds and enjoy some alone time with nature, then taking this trip during winter (Dec., Jan., and Feb.) could also be an option.
